與other, another 有關的短語有很多，例如有another,other,the other,the others,others，但是你分得清楚他們各自的用法和區別嗎？不清楚的話就看看下面的內容吧！
other
1. other表示“別的”, “另外的”,只能與複數名詞連用,這種情況下other做形容詞,表示“其他的”，
但other前有冠詞the時就可以可與單數名詞連用。
例如：
other students 其他學生
the other son 另一個兒子
What other colours do you have?
你們還有其他什麼顏
色的?。
2.the other：後面即可以加單數名詞也可以加複數名詞
例如：
What about the other reasons?
還有什麼其他的原因嗎？
This is her one daughter, where is the other daughter?
這是她的一個女兒，還有另一個呢。
the other加複數名詞時，指的是一定範圍內“所有其餘的人或事物”,是特指。
而other加複數名詞指的卻是沒有明確範圍的“另外的人或事物”，是泛指。
例如:
How about the other adjectives?
其他的形容詞也是如此嗎？
Do you have any other questions about the job?
關於這個工作您還有什麼其他問題嗎？
3.other也可以做代詞,但是做代詞時一般不以原形出現,一般用以“the other”或者以複數形式“others”出現。
例句：
He contacted me, say he had this, that, and the other.
他和我接觸，說他有這個那個，還有其他的。
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
我們有僕人來侍奉我們，但他們侍奉其他人。
當others和some對比使用時,是“有些”的意思而不是"其他”
例句：
Some cleaned the windows,others mopped the floor有的擦窗戶,有的擦地板。
4.the others是“其餘的”意思,表示在一個範圍內的其他全部。
例如:
If you change one, you have to change the others.
如果你更改了這個部分，你就要更改那個部分。
Before we make any decision, we should listen to what the others say.
我們在做出任何決定之前，應該聽一聽其他人的意見。
another
1.another做代詞
例如：
This shirt is too large for me. Please show me another.
這件襯衫我穿太大。請另外拿一件我看看。
2.another, the other作代詞的用法區別。
the other 表示“兩個數量中的另一個”,表示特指,總數為兩個，the other是其中的“另一個”。
例如:
Give me the other one，not this one.
給我那一個,不是這一個。
The file can have one format or the other, but not both.
文件可以有一個或另一個格式，但不能兩個都有。
another表示“總數為三個以上中任意的另一個”,表示泛指。
例如:
He didn't really believe that any human being could read another's mind.
他並不真地相信一個人能夠看出另一個人的心思。
3.another還可以做形容詞
例句：
I know you have not come back, should you go to another world!
我知道你已經不會再回來了，因為你去了另一個世界！
With it to be free to jump from one location to another location.
有了它就可以自由地從一個位置跳躍到另一個位置。
