夏吃豌豆，勝過吃肉。
說到“剝豌豆”我們該說什麼呢?
“unwrap the peas？”
“shell the peas？”
“take skin off the peas？”
雖說都是剝開的意思，但剝開的東西不同，動詞也不一樣。
下面我們看看老外如何用“剝”這個動詞的吧。

peel
Even monkeys can peel bananas.
動物園的猴子也會剝香蕉 。
Can you peel the potatoes for me?
你能幫我剝土豆皮嗎？
I can’t peel the egg, it’s too hot.
雞蛋太熱了，我不能剝開它
朵媽說
通常來講，如果某物的皮和去皮後的部分是緊緊貼合的，用peel。比如，大部分的水果、蔬菜、雞蛋、蝦。
Peel的時候可以是用手，也可以是用削皮刀。

Take the skin off
Take the skin off the grapes before you eat them.
把葡萄皮剝了再吃。
Take the skin off the orange segment, and then take the seeds out.
把橘子瓣的皮剝開，把橘子籽取出來。

take the skin off 和peel區別：
take the skin off一般指特別薄的皮；
peel的東西皮有一定厚度。

Shell
I like to eat chestnut, but I don’t like to shell them.
我喜歡吃栗子，但我不喜歡剝。
What tools can we use to shell crabs?
剝螃蟹需要什麼工具？
朵媽說
堅果（核桃、栗子、松子、開心果）、種子（瓜子、花生）、貝類（螃蟹、扇貝、蛤蜊），這些用shell。
這類食物的特點是殼很硬，而且跟裡面的東西是容易分離的。
Shell和peel的區別是：shell剝的是硬殼。

Crack
Mommy will throw the walnut onto the floor to crack it.
媽媽把核桃往地上一摔，它就開了。
Let me crack the walnut open for you.
我給你砸個核桃。
First, let’s crack the egg.
首先，我們把雞蛋打開。
朵媽說
Crack並不是和”剝“對應的英文，人們使用crack這樣的動詞，表達“夾”、“砸”、“嗑”、“磕”。而表達的也不是動作本身，而是一種結果。
在英語中，人們常用Crack open 表示以使其破裂的方式打開某物。

Unwrap a piece of candy
Let me unwrap a piece of candy for you.
我幫你剝塊糖吧。
朵媽說
當糖果、巧克力或其他零食和包裝粘在一起，或者非常緊時，用peel。
否則用unwrap，就是像把一個包袱打開一樣。
