Daddy just didn´t know how to show love. It was Mom who held the family together. He just went to work every day and came home; She´d have a list of sins we´d committed and he´d scold us about them.

爸爸是一個不善於表達愛的人，我們一家人的幸福融洽都是媽媽的功勞。他只知道每天上班下班，而媽媽對我們的頑皮、冒失和過錯都瞭如指掌，爸爸卻常會因這些事責怪我們。

Once when I stole a candy of a bar, he made me take it back and tell the man I stole it and that I´d pay for it. But it was Mom who understood I was just a kid.

有一次，我從商店裡偷了一塊糖，爸爸讓我送回去，向店主人認錯，並且按價賠償。還是媽媽理解我。說我只不過是個孩子。

I broke my leg once on the playground swing and it was Mom who held me in her arms all the way to the hospital. Dad pulled the car right up to the door of the emergency room and when they asked him to move it because that space was reserved for emergency vehicles, He shouted:“What do you think this is? A tour bus?”

我曾在盪鞦韆時把腿摔斷了，去醫院的路上，媽媽一直抱著我。爸爸直接把車子開到急救室門口。有人不讓他把車子停在那裡，說那是急救車停靠的地方，爸爸便大聲喊道：“你以為這是什麼？是旅遊車嗎？”

At my birthday parties, Dad seemed sort of out of place. He just busied himself blowing up balloons, and setting op tables, and running errands. It was Mom who carded in the cake with the candies on it for me to blow out.

在我的生日宴會上，爸爸忙的不亦樂乎，他吹氣球，擺桌子，跑來跑去。媽媽把生日蛋糕拿來，點燃蠟燭，讓我吹滅。

When I leaf through picture albums people always ask:“What does your dad look like?”“Who knows? He was always fiddling around with the camera taking everyone else´s picture. I must have a zillion pictures of Mom and me smiling together. ”

當我翻看相冊時，有人會問：“你爸爸是什麼樣的人啊？”“哎呀，誰知道呢？他總是擺弄相機，只知道給大夥拍照。我和媽媽笑著的合影倒是有好多好多呢”

I remember when Mom told him to teach me how to ride a bicycle. I told him not to let go, but he said it was time. I fell and Mom ran to pick me up, but he waved her off. I was so mad I showed him. I got right back on that bike and rode it myself. He didn´t even feel embarrassed. Just smiled.

我還記得媽媽讓爸爸教我學自行車的情形。我不讓爸爸鬆手，但他卻說我能自己騎了。我摔倒後，媽媽跑過來把我扶起，爸爸卻揮手讓她走開，這使得我非常惱火。我再次騎上車子，真的可以自己騎了。爸爸並不感到意外，只是微笑著。

When I went to college, Mom did all the writing. He just sent checks and a little note about how great his lawn looked now but I can´t play football on it.

我上大學時，媽媽經常給我寫信，而爸爸只知道寄錢，頂多附上一張便條，告訴我，他的草坪現在修整得多麼好，而如今我卻不能在上面踢球了。

Whenever I called home, he acted like he wanted to talk, but he always said:“I will get your mother.”

每次往家裡打電話，爸爸似乎都要和我說話，可又總是說：“我叫你媽媽來接。”

When I got married, it was Mom who cried. He just blew his nose loudly and left the room.

我結婚時，媽媽哭的特別傷心，而爸爸只是大聲聳聳鼻子，走出房間。

All my life he said:“Where are you going? What time are you coming home? No, you cannot go”

在我的一生中，爸爸總是問：“你要去哪？什麼時候回來？不，你不能去。”

Daddy just didn´t know how to show love, unless...

爸爸就是不知道如何表達愛，只會這樣...

Is it possible he showed it and didn´t recognize it?

其實，爸爸向我們表達了愛，但很難察覺，不是嗎？
