才德的婦人，誰能得著呢？她的價值遠勝過珍珠。—— 箴31：10節
《箴言》的作者是所羅門，最後一章是一首離合詩，每一句都是以不同的希伯來語字母開頭，有位評論家稱其為“為妻之道字母表”。“才德”這個詞在《舊約》中出現過246次，它譯自一個普遍使用的希伯來詞，該詞在不同語境中的含義不同，可分別譯為力量、勇氣、英勇、靈巧和財富等，當作者說德才兼備的妻子“勝過紅寶石”的時候，這個詞可譯為“財富”。正如“美名過大財”（箴22：1節）一樣，德才兼備的妻子比世上任何財富都更可貴。
一個德才兼備的妻子具備很多可敬的品德，如她是丈夫的依靠；是祝福而是不是負擔；對丈夫忠貞不渝；勤勞；勤勉；有秩序；精明；自信；做事主動；富有同情心；未雨綢繆；穿著得體；是丈夫事業的好幫好；是當地出色的生意人；有好名聲；智慧又善良；勤勤懇懇操持家庭；她的丈夫和兒女都稱讚她，因為她不依靠豔麗和美貌，而是敬畏耶和華；她享受勞作所得的，美名傳遍全城。
多少個世紀以來，女性們都在驚歎《箴言》三十一章對一個完美妻子的描繪；一位賢德的妻子，母親和成功的女企業家。這乍看起來讓人覺得是個女超人，而是不是現實生活真實的女人。其實，所羅所所描述的並不是特定的某一位女性，而是所有敬畏上帝、相夫教子、操持家庭、發揮自己能力和恩賜、祝福他人的賢德女性和生命寫照。
以上所描繪的妻子形象應當是所有女性的榜樣，也是男士們擇偶的標準，雖然我們並不知道她的芳名，但確信她必定敬畏上帝，並且活出了她的信仰。這一點至關重要，因為只有敬畏上帝，她的生活才能如此和諧有序；也因為她愛丈夫、扶助丈夫，用自己的恩賜增添家庭的財和，並盡心盡力地履行生活上的責任，所以上帝大大祝福她的家庭，也使她的美名傳遍會城。
《箴言》以描述有才德的妻子結尾，這並非偶然，賢德的妻子與情婦、淫婦（箴19：5～7節）形成了鮮明的對照。最終，與才德的女子最親近的人都讚美她，在丈夫的眼中沒有誰能比得上她，她的兒女也稱她是受祝福的人，所有認識她的人都稱讚她。

1. Trustworthy 值得信賴的
“The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.”她丈夫心裡倚靠她，必不缺少利益。 ——Proverbs 31:11
2. Seeks Good 為先生的益處著想
“She does him good, and not harm,all the days of her life” 她一生使丈夫有益無損。——Proverbs 31:12
3. Creative 有創意的
“She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.” 她尋找羊絨和麻，甘心用手做工。——Proverbs 31:13
4. Diligent 勤奮的
“She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar.” ——她好像商船從遠方運糧來，Proverbs 31:14
5. Self-less 多為別人考慮的
“She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens.” 未到黎明她就起來，把食物分給家中的人，將當做的工分派婢女。——Proverbs 31:15
6. Resourceful 隨機應變，有智慧的
“She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.”她想得田地就買來，用手所得之利，栽種葡萄園。——Proverbs 31:16
7. Strong 肯吃苦的
“She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.”她以能力束腰，使膀臂有力。 ——Proverbs 31:17
8. Economical 有經濟頭腦的
“She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night.”她覺得所經營的有利，她的燈終夜不滅。 ——Proverbs 31:18
9. Driven 有行動力的
“She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.” 她手拿捻線竿，手把紡線車。——Proverbs 31:19
10. Giving 慷慨給與的
“She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.”她張手賙濟困苦人，伸手幫補窮乏人。 ——Proverbs 31:20
11. Prepared 有前瞻性的
“She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.” 她不因下雪為家裡的人擔心，因為全家都穿著硃紅衣服。——Proverbs 31:21
12. Well-Dressed 有品位，注意著裝的
“She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.” 她為自己製作繡花毯子，她的衣服是細麻和紫色布做的。——Proverbs 31:22
13. Supportive 支持先生的
“Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land.” 她丈夫在城門口與本地的長老同坐，為眾人所認識。——Proverbs 31:23
14. Hard Working 有商業頭腦，努力工作
“She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant.” 她做細麻布衣裳出賣，又將腰帶賣與商家。——Proverbs 31:24
15. Vision 充滿盼望的，喜樂的
“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.” 能力和威儀是她的衣服。她想到日後的景況就喜笑。——Proverbs 31:25
16. Wisdom 智慧，仁慈
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” 她開口就發智慧，她舌上有仁慈的法則。——Proverbs 31:26
17. Industrious 勤勉持家的
“She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”她觀察家務，並不吃閒飯。 ——Proverbs 31:27
18. Respected 被家裡人尊敬的
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:”她的兒女起來稱她有福，她的丈夫也稱讚她， ——Proverbs 31:28
19. Ambitious 看重自己的價值
“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” 說：“才德的女子很多，惟獨你超過一切！”——Proverbs 31:29
20. Fears the Lord 不虛榮浮誇，敬畏耶和華
“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.” 麗是虛假的，美容是虛浮的，惟敬畏耶和華的婦女必得稱讚！——Proverbs 31:30
