英語形容詞後綴-able(-ible, -ile) 意為“capable of"; -al意為“nature of"; -ant,-ent, -ary, -ory意為“having the quality of”; -ic,-ical 意為“nature of"; -ous意為“many, full of, like, having the quality of”。它們都來源於拉丁語，特別是 -al,-ant,-ent, -ary, -ory,-ic 等也可作為名詞後綴使用。
