這次，草莓君又有幸與吳老師促膝長談，竟然無意中挖出來了會計專業申請中我們所不知道的“陷阱”。
UIUC，伊利諾伊香檳分校，這所女神校是多少學生們的夢想，加之，其會計專業在美國千所院校中，絕對稱得上是Tier 1的等級（USNews會計專排滴第4名），每年更是吸引了大批大批的申請者申請其會計碩士專業。
但是！草莓曾經驚恐地聽聞幾位小夥伴談起，被UIUC會計專業慘劇的悲涼，並且他們的背景都算得上是中偏上等，為何最終遭拒？百思不得其解！經過與吳劍鋒老師的談天，草莓終於挖出了事實真相！！
原來，線索與答案UIUC早已鋪墊給我們！？現在就來聽草莓君為你爆內幕，“UIUC——我悲劇的真相”。

1 難解的謎題：錄取 VS 被拒
以下3人中，只有1人順利被UIUC MSA項目錄取，猜猜他到底是誰？
（1）Caro同學
國內211 985本科，工商管理專業，申請UIUC會計，GPA 3.66，TOEFL 99，GMAT 710
有2年的企業實習經驗
（2）SG明月同學
國內雙非院校本科，會計專業，申請UIUC會計，GPA 3.5，TOEFL 102，GMAT 670

這3人的背景看似各有優劣，很難說明誰比誰更勝一籌。
（1）Caro的學校背景好，GG分數不錯，但語言成績稍弱；
（2）明月的優勢在會計專業背景強，強實習，但G成績稍顯遜色
（3）小簡同學分數都不錯，但院校背景和專業都有劣勢
你覺得這3人的最終結果應該是什麼？幸運兒究竟是誰？繼續往下分析
2 隱藏的線索①：分數要求

我們來畫畫這些文字中的重點：
（1）GPA
Applicants are required to have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. They should have earned a minimum grade average of “B,” or the equivalent, in the last two years of undergraduate study.
GPA最低要求必須3.0的，並且是擁有本科學位。但此處，並沒對本科是否會計專業有所要求。
（2）GMAT成績
All applicants, domestic or international, are required to take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). This test should be taken early enough to ensure that the results will be available to the MSA program during the application review process.
GMAT成績要求&最低分數並沒有清晰的說出，但是，我們不難發現，無論本土生還是國際生，都要求考G，可見，這個分數定時越高越好，擇優錄取的。
（3）語言成績
Can the English Placement Test be waived for an international student who has a TOEFL score less than 103 or an IELTS score less than 7.0?
No. We require the English Placement Test for any international student who scores less than these test scores to determine if it is necessary for the student to take an ESL class during their first summer. As communication is a critical skill in adapting to and succeeding in our MSA Program, we have these requirements to help our students get the communication assistance that they need while they are with us.
這段文字節選自UIUC的申請FAQ中，紅字部分正說明了會計專業隊語言要求很是看重，並且學校也隱晦的說明了語言成績的最低容忍要求：TOEFL低於103或者IELTS低於7.0，就必須要上夏季英語課程了。
說明，T103/I 7.0是最低分數，且，雖然有語言課程可以上，但是在申請人數眾多的情況下，學校肯定優先招收語言達標的學生，之後才考了不得不配合語言課的學生。
GPA，GMAT越高越好，T/I需要103+或者7+，併為透露是否一定需要會計背景。
關於背景的要求，我們接著看下一個線索……
3 隱藏的線索②：被忽視的話
以上的分數要求，相信申請者們並不太會忽視，但是，像這樣的對於“背景”的要求，我們則往往看一眼就拋到了腦後……

In addition, applicants must have a minimum academic background in business. This background requirement can be satisfied by completing courses from universities or from online providers such as Coursera, Udacity or EdX. Note that we generally require a certificate of completion for courses taken from the online providers noted above. In general, we expect students to have completed courses in finance, business management, statistics, and economics. We also require students to complete a one or two course sequence in Principles of Accounting.
這裡，解答了我們對線索②的疑惑：
學校要求背景，但是是商科背景即可，並且具體列出了申請者所需要具備的前置課程：
金融、商務管理、統計學、經濟學和會計原理。
4 隱藏線索③：細思恐極的“解答”
接著，我們再來看看有些隱蔽的線索3，這條也是來自UIUC的申請FAQ：

If I apply with a limited accounting background, am I competing for an offer in the MSA Program with those students who have more extensive accounting or an undergraduate accounting degree from another university?
Not necessarily. We admit students that are accounting majors as well as students that will have a degree in something other than accounting. Any student that meets the prerequisite requirements is eligible to apply.
The thing to remember is that applicants are competing for space in our program with applicants that have a similar background. For example, an applicant with a limited accounting background is not necessarily competing for a space with an accounting major. That is the case because we purposely reserve room in our program for students with limited accounting backgrounds.
問題中問道，學校對於非會計背景PK會計背景者的看法：
學校紅果果的回答：
這兩類申請人並不會在一起競爭！！！並且，UIUC的MSA，會計和非會計生都錄取，並且學校會為非會計生留出名額（特殊待遇）。
從這段FAQ中，我們不難看出，UIUC在申請審核中，會對非會計學生予以特殊照顧。為什麼這樣推理呢？
首先，學校明確指明，兩個背景不在一起競爭，即，會計人和會計人PK，非會計背景和非會計背景PK。要知道，會計背景的申請人有多少個，非會計又有多少？少說，會計申請者應該能是非會計申請者數量的1倍。。。
其次，學校不僅招收非會計，還有一定名額需要滿足。雖然我們並不知道這個reserve的room到底有所少個，但是在非會計基數較小的前提下，不得不說是特殊的優待了。
5 隱藏線索④：你還需要具備……
學校原話：
What types of students is the MSA Program looking for?
We are looking for well-rounded applicants that may have varying amounts of previous accounting coursework and or experience. We expect applicants to have done well academically. We also want to know what other interests you have. The resume and personal statement is your opportunity to share with us something else about yourself and what your goals are so that we can get to know you better and be able to evaluate you not just on your grades and test scores when we make a decision. For example, what extracurricular activities are you involved in? Have you done volunteer work, been involved in clubs, student groups, or athletics? What leadership roles have your held? What did you learn from the work experiences you completed?
What is best advice for international students who want to apply to the Illinois MSA program?
The best advice we can give you is to continue to study hard and exercise a strong work ethic. You should also become involved in extracurricular activities to help expand your interests and horizons. Finally, and this is very important for whichever university you decide to go to, “Do not neglect practicing your communication skills after you have taken the TOEFL or IELTS.” By continually practicing your English and communication skills, you will be able to more easily adapt to your new environment both inside and outside of the classroom. No matter which university you decide to attend, you will be presented with numerous opportunities for growth and personal experiences. The important part is that you are ready and willing to embrace those opportunities as they become available.
草莓君推理：
學校強調了一些非學術的要求：如prefer工作經歷和實習經驗，學生社團和活動經歷，以及申請者的leadership體現。
同時，強調了文書中，職業目標規劃的重要性。
並再次，說明，要study hard即有個好的GPA，和語言分數/英語言能力（communication skill）。
6 推理：揭曉答案！
看了以上的線索分析，相信答案已經呼之欲出了。以上3人，誰被錄取，誰被拒了，你，猜對了嗎？

錄取和被拒，他們的差別究竟在哪裡？我們再次依照上述推理作個對比。
【真相解析】
依據上面的推理，我們不難發現，UIUC的會計碩士申請要求與真相：
1 會計背景 & 非會計背景申請者是分開來競爭的，且學校是有計劃數量，要招收非會計生的。
2 看重GG和語言成績（最低語言分數要求：103/7.0），GMAT越高越好。
3 工作經歷，和個人經歷的偏好。以及Career goal、leadership在文書中的體現。
由此，我們對照下以上3人的背景情況。可見基於真相①，Caro和小簡是在一起競爭的，因為他們同為非會計背景；
而明月和大部隊的會計生一起競爭，顯然她的GMAT是絕對的劣勢，T成績也並未達到真相②的最低要求，悲劇的事實已無法阻擋。。。
在分析PK對手，Caro和小簡，由於真相②，Caro的TOEFL已經致命，被小簡碾壓了。加之，真相③，小簡的四大實習會比Caro更加貼合MSA課程要求，並且有了吳老師的文書指導，不知道小簡的文書是否在領導力和職業目標規劃上的寫作手法要比純粹DIY的Caro更勝一籌呢。
通過以上的推理，小簡的勝出已經成為必然。

不難發現，我剛剛跟你說的這些信息，其實，學校官網上都有了，
如果同學們不像文書我們這樣有著豐富的申請經驗，那麼一定要注意學校的每一句說明，每一句提醒。
這些大段大段的文字，看似零散含糊，其實都是有著用意。可以說，沒有一句話，是毫無存在價值的。他們都或多或少的描畫出了，學校的預期，他們偏愛哪樣的人。這點非常重要，申請者們一定要發現、要抓準才行。
