New season for Dynamo Kyiv, new chance to try to steal a title from Shakhtar Donetsk. Last season they finished 14 points behind them and they lost the Super Cup in Odessa on Saturday losing 2-0 against Shakthar.. Bad news for them as they only have two days to rest and prepare this match against Chornomorets, a squad that surprised everyone last year finishing in the top-6.
Two of Dynamo’s best players, Younes Belhanda and Lukasz Teodorczyk, let the club to Turkey and Belgium respectively, and will be deeply missed this season.
The calendar has not been good to the hosts, that after this match will face again the Donetsk giants before playing the preview of the UEFA Champions League against the Swiss Young Boys. Chornomorets only lost three of the last seven matches played on the road last season, all for only one goal difference, and managed to beat the Champions (Shakhtar) in their own stadium. The head to head record is also encouraging for the visitors, as they only lost once for more than two goals in the last four times they played Dynamo Kyiv, getting a 1-1 draw in Odessa. There is no doubt that the hosts are favourites, but Chornomorets won’t sell the defeat easily.
