1.keep及物動詞，keep +n.。
例：keep a seat
意思是：留個座位。
再比如，可以說keep the money，意思是存錢。
也就是說，在這裡keep也保留，存下的意思。
2.及物動詞,有遵守的意思。
如：keep the law. 意思是守法，遵守法律。
keep the words.說話算話。
He is a man who always keeps his words. 他是一個說話算數的人。
3.vt.keep還有贍養，飼養的意思。
如 keep dogs pigs and so on.養狗養豬等等。
keep the family 養家。
4. 及物動詞，意為“（暫時）保管、（暫時）存放、保存、保留”等，有時也可以表示“借”的意思。如：
